I normalized the data (see earlier post). Readable? Got suggestions on how to improve?

I ditched rgplot and instead used Gruff (wraps RMagick which wraps ImageMagick). Installation is pretty straightforward. However, I faced a problem with installing ghostscript on my OS X box. Something in the portfile is broken or something. Anyway, you might need to comment the following lines in the ghostscript portfile (typically something like /opt/local/var/db/dports/sources/rsync.rsync.darwinports.org_dpupdate_dports/print/ghostscript/Portfile):

SFO != San Francisco

Bit off topic, but it annoys me to see desis, usually FOBs using SFO to refer to San Francisco.

SFO = San Francisco Airport -- nothing to do with SF City per se, heck it is not even located in San Francisco.

If you ask anyone in Bay Area they would think why is this dude sampling eating trend at San Francisco Airport!

Just like how you don't refer to London by LHR (Heathrow Airport code) or New York City by JFK or New Jersey by EWR, please don't use "SFO" if you are referring to "San Francisco"

I’m aware that SFO is an airport code. However, a lot of my colleagues used SFO to refer to Frisco. So I didn’t find anything wrong (and still don’t).

FWIW, there are more than 6,000 images on Flickr tagged "sfo" that have nothing to do with the airport.

Go figure.

Airport codes are often used to refer to a city since they are unique globally.

Unlike LHR/JFK/EWR etc, the letters SFO occur in San Francisco, and is therefore an intuitive way to abbreviate the name. I have never been to the US, have no idea what airport codes are, and don't care. Stick with the abbreviation. Shorten it to SF if you like, but some smartass might then point out that it could be mistaken for (say) Santa Fe. :)

By the way, wouldn't it be better if Monday through Sunday occur in sequence on the bar charts?

Prem, I have been trying to get gruff to work for my research purposes. I ran the simple apple-oranges code example listed in Geoffrey Grosenbach's webpage..however I keep stumbling on ruby: annotate.c:786: GetTypeMetrics: Assertion `draw_info->text != (char *) ((void *)0)' failed..Have you seen something like this before?

Haven’t faced this problem. This seems like an issue with the underlying library that Gruff uses. You might want to check for version incompatibilities.

Hey Thanks for the reply!, well i had a spare box which runs the latest version of Ubuntu and these scripts worked flawlessly. The box I tried on runs an older version (with older libraries I guess) and hence the problem.
