Python at Universities?
Some weeks back I was wondering if it made sense to have Python at the University level instead of C/C++, and for some time I thought yes.
jace reassured that belief when he said that he did think it made sense (excuse me if this is incorrect; blame it on my bad memory!). After C++-related posts by
bluesmoon and
code_martial, I am probably posting this at the risk of being gunned down (and for this reason, I owe myself a pat on my back for being a daredevil of sorts!). Their posts made me rethink, and now I am confused.
Ramdas S (editor, Developer-IQ), apparently, had proposed to one of the Universities in southern India, to use Python instead of what is normally used (Pascal, C, C++), and they rejected his proposal.
Use of Python at the University level probably depends on the big picture—where modern scripting languages (like Perl, Python) and traditional programming languages (like C, C++) are headed—and I have a muzzy view of the big picture
