Rails on Top

Wah! Rails has the highest market cap in the Web Application Frameworks market.

Quoting David:

Puzzled as to what all this would mean, I asked recognized internet entrepreneur Thomas Madsen-Mygdal. As the founder of internet conference Reboot, co-founder of wifi hotshot Organic, and a slew of other companies, I knew he would know. While Rails was trading at $22, he predicted:

I see the core fundamentals in the Rails market taking it to 80 dollars six months. A strong buy recommendation.

Don’t ask me anything about the Buzz Game. Ask Swaroop, he might be of help.

Go Twisted/Nevow

You can’t possibly compare Nevow with Rails!

One of the reasons Rails is so awesome is that it doesn’t really have its own domain language.

I have a Rails question. How it cannot be compared to twisted/nevow? I could not see any advantage that Rails has over it.

I haven’t actually *tried* Nevow, so a comparison might be biased towards Rails. But clearly, from what I see, Nevow is more of a templating system than a web application *framework*. I constantly keep hearing references to a "simplified" MVC when refering to Nevow (and simplified, here, of course, doesn’t mean simpler to use).

By any chance, do you have some performance figures... or maybe some fairly large sites running Nevow?

Oh, so you worry about performance in the very beginning? There is a caching branch in nevow-svn. Significant performance improvements can be seening after it is merged with the trunk.

I cannot point you to any large sites running Nevow, as nevow is still in version 0.3, instead you can see who is using Nevow now.

Or should I learn ruby to understand why Rails is better?

Not really.

(There’s been thoughts on whether Rails could be built without Ruby, that might be of some passing interest.)

Any plans for adapting Rails to fit into the Ajax framework?

Work’s been done on synchronous requests, I think.
