YubNub

I came across this site YubNub, “a (social) command line for the web”. (Via Slashdot.) Pretty neat, I must say. The “social” thing is stuck in there because “commands” are created by you and me.

Now what would be interesting would be to provide feeds for search results; we could then do some lame-ass Ajax stuff and integrate it with something ultra-hip thingie like JS/UIX.

It's very similar to keyword feature in Firefox - i use it to similar effect. I have bookmarked most of the search strings and frequently visited sites and have added keywords to most of them - so all i need to do is remember the keyword. For Example i have bookmarked google search string and added "gg" as it's keyword , so now i just type "gg <what ever i want to search for>", in the location bar and i get the results. I think yubnub can be used in a similar way , i fail to see any other usage though:-(

Ps: ofcourse social networking could be a plus in most cases, but in this case i think it might not help much, it get's overpopulated.

I used lame-ass to juxtapose the things you’d generally achieve using Ajax with the coolness of JS/UIX.

Perhaps you should look at command based scripting languages scripting languages.
But i see a place where no one has yet explored. Making commands first class or passing the output of one command to other . That makes a very powerful application.

what would be interesting would be a command line client that did yubnub searches, piped the result through links or whatever and spat it out to stdout. it could replace the multitude of separate command line interfaces to various web services.
