Periodic Table

While at high school, I used to be a Periodic Table geek—whatever that is. I could (well, still can) write the periodic table; I have a problem remembering the Lanthanides and Actinides, though. I even had some web pages about periodic tables and stuff—can’t find them online now, though.

Oxford ecologist Philip Stewart designed a new periodic table. From Slashdot:

"There is an interesting article on the periodic table over at Slate: 'Oxford ecologist Philip Stewart has designed a new periodic table of the elements, and it's a hit. American schools are placing orders daily for Stewart's table, and the Royal Society of Chemists recently sent a copy to every British secondary school. Stewart's is the only remake to achieve widespread adoption since Dmitri Mendeleev invented the original periodic table in a fit of brilliance in 1869.' "

There have been multiple versions of the periodic table around for over a century. Mendelev's is not the only one used, it's just the only one that will actually fit on a text book page. Others are three dimensional, or require multiple pages.

This one looks like one I've seen, but not exactly. Dr. Punya Misra should know more

But this is probably one of the better looking ones.

Dr. Sharma would know too, but probably know as much as Dr. Punya Misra.

Hmm... I saw the link to the table and thought to myself that looks like a spiral galaxy, indeed that is what seems to have inspired him. Here's a the link:

Read this... every element has a story. It's a newish genre called 'flash fiction' which is a short story of less than 750 words. I thought it was really interesting.
